Auditions!

Why audition for The Aristocats?

We are more than just an a cappella group — we are a family. We spend time making music and performing together, but we also place significant importance on truly bonding as a community through shared activities, late-night adventures, game nights, and more. In joining an a cappella group, the friends you make and the music you create will be essential components of an unforgettable college experience. We would love to be a part of that for you!

Do I need previous singing experience?

Our current members range from professional performers to simple shower singers! All we ask is that you come with a positive attitude and a willingness to try (even if it's new to you). Though having previous experience in singing and a basic understanding of pitch and tone is helpful, we are eager to welcome you with whatever you have to show us!

Do I need to prepare a Disney song?

Nope! Please do not feel limited to only picking from Disney's repertoire. We have had auditionees sing pop, gospel, musical theatre, jazz, and more! Pick any song you love to sing that shows off your voice. If you know your vocal range, try to pick something within it. Memorization is not required, but we find it helps to be familiar with the song before singing it for us :)

What does a typical audition consist of?

A typical Aristocats audition includes: warmups, getting to know the group, tonal memory, sight singing, and a short section of a song of your choice!

What is the time commitment?

We rehearse roughly 6 hours a week and do two concerts a year, as well as gigs at WashU events and around the St. Louis community. Though it is a time commitment, it is nothing unmanageable. We’ve had group members participate in all sorts of other activities as well, including varsity athletics, undergraduate research, student theatre, WUSA, Greek life, etc., while still maintaining full course loads.

Sounds good! How do I sign up?

We have not released sign-ups for the Fall 2026 audition season, but when we do, you can find them here and on our Instagram page @washuaristocats. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help or have any questions. We can’t wait for you to join the Aristocats fam! 💛
